Continuing a long tradition of jams in the Triangle area, we’re happy to announce that NC State will be hosting a site for the 2015 Global Game Jam, a weekend hackathon focused on game development. This year, the NC State Game Jam will kick off on Centennial Campus, Engineering Building II, Room 3211 at 7PM on January 23, 2015, extending to 7PM January 26, 2015.
The Global Game Jam is not a competition, but rather is designed to stir a creative spark around game development focused on many things, such as programming, narrative exploration and artistic expression…and it is condensed into a 48 hour development cycle. People of all disciplines are welcome, even non-computing, as you can make a board or card game instead! You don’t need to bring a team, the theme will be announced at the event and we’ll do brainstorming/team formation after that.
This year, NC State was designated as a Global Game Jam site, along with ~480 other locations around the world. We invite the general public in the Raleigh/Durham area to contribute their skills to design, develop, create, test and finish a new game in the time span of 48 hours. We hope to have a strong NC State Student turnout too!
To participate, you must sign up online at two different sites:
- Global Game Jam site at http://globalgamejam.org/2015/jam-sites/nc-state-university-triangle-area
- Local NC State site at http://go.ncsu.edu/ggj15-register
